1. My Practice

I offer a variety of Psychological services that are typically covered by insurances.  A clinical diagnosis is required to help the insurance company determine “medical necessity” for reimbursement.

CLINICAL SERVICES

*Initial Evaluation*

The first 1-4 sessions are initial evaluation sessions where we discuss the reasons you decided to seek services.  These sessions provide time to become acquainted with one another, and allow the opportunity to decide how we might work together.  If, by the end of this evaluation period it is decided that we will not work together, I will be glad to make a referral to another professional who may be better suited to meet your needs.

*CONFIDENTIALITY*

I am legally and ethically obligated to maintain client confidentiality.  That involves any and all information regarding your treatment, including the fact that you are in therapy. State law requires me to break confidentiality under certain circumstances, however.  The more common exceptions to confidentiality (WAC 246-924-363) are listed below.  This is not a complete list.  If you have questions about exceptions to confidentiality not listed below, please feel free to ask me or to consult an attorney.

If I have reason to believe that you are in imminent danger of harming yourself or another person, I must take action to prevent that harm.  That may include, but is not limited to:  contacting friends or family, contacting police or other officials, or contacting a county designated Mental Health Professional.

If I have a reasonable cause to believe based on information you tell me that a child, vulnerable adult, or developmentally disabled individual is being abused, neglected, or taken advantage of, I must make a report to the appropriate state protective services. That may be Child or Adult Protective Services.  If you reveal that you were abused as a child and the abuser still has access to other children, I must inform Child Protective Services.

If I am ordered by a court to testify or release records, I must comply, unless your attorney is able to prevent it.

The Uniform Health Care Information Act of 1992 (RCW 70.02.050) permits me to consult with current, prior, or future health care providers for purposes of continuity of care, or to confer with a member of your immediate family in cases of emergency without your consent. My policy is to do this only on a “need to know” basis or in cases of emergency.

Periodically, I may have need to consult with other licensed mental health professionals.  If I consult with a colleague regarding your treatment, I will do so on an “anonymous” basis meaning I will avoid revealing any information that will identify you.  That would include your name, address, and/or place of employment so that your privacy is carefully preserved.
